The Sidr (Lote) tree is considered sacred, and is only harvested twice a year, thus availability is not assured all the time. The Lote tree has been mentioned four times in the Holy Quran: Surah Saba (15-16), Surah Waqia (27-33) and Surah Najm (7-18). Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) has referenced this tree to illustrate its beauty and strength. Furthermore, our beloved Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) stated: “Honey is a remedy for every illness and the Qur’an is a remedy for all illness of the mind, therefore I recommend to you both remedies, the Qur’an and honey.” (Bukhari)
